How To Get Started Writing A Mystery Novel

Alive with like to scan novels, and will study them besides and besides, but have the desire to do much more, twin now write a story themselves. The place post bounteous get stuck is at the very beginning, whereabouts do I start? There are about five different ways to help yourself sense and get your ideas down on paper before portion actual story writing takes place. This allows you to see to your thoughts, and acknowledge all the possibilities to maximize the chances of getting your story off the ground. The techniques are not all separate though. They can be used in categorization to help you through the creation process.

The first method that can be used is what is commonly avowed due to free writing. This can be done one of two ways. You can concede yourself over much time considering you want to just let portion ideas that come to brainpower to be jotted down on the paper, or you can time yourself. You can gate five to ten log, and everything that comes to mind that would fit into your story gets written down on your paper. Do not worry if it does not make sense that is not the point of the exercise. The point is to get the creative juices flowing, and giving you the opportunity to branch off any idea you may have put down. Many of the comments you write down will not be used at all in the story, but the more you have the more chances you have of inspiration, and an idea you can work with. It is a great exercise, and it may also help if you run into a writer ' s block. This may get your ideas on paper, but the next part is choosing and organizing the ideas you want to include in your story.

Which brings us to the next technique, mind mapping or the old - fashioned cluster. It starts out with a circle in the middle of the paper. If you know what you want your story to be based around or at least have somewhat of an idea from your free writing exercise then you can use that in the middle of the circle. After that is all done it is time to start branching out. You can draw a line from the middle circle connecting it to another one that is located towards the outside of the paper. In this one who can put an idea that deals with the main story, such as the main plot, or perhaps character introductions, anything really that relates directly with the main idea. You can make as many as you want connecting to the middle circle! Now you can also branch off the secondary ideas, and just keep going, this will give you a rough representation of how your story will weave together, and how it is all interconnected. This works great for very visual people!

The third approach to preparing you ideas for a story is to create the characters. Identify and write down all the personality traits, interest, to really make them something genuine! Do not be afraid to get too in detail, the more you know the characters the easier it is to write about them, or even to create the dialogue of the story. You can make them a profile, which includes likes, dislikes, hobbies, and lifestyle. Another important factor with this system is to know the relationships of each character to the others and how they intertwine. One last part of this method to remember is the perspective! There will be a main character, maybe one, maybe two, but is always good to establish how you want the story to be told. It helps if you imagine the story from all different viewpoints, to really expose yourself and get a better understanding of what you really want.

Next is a plot line. Every story has background information, an introduction, rising action, climax, the falling action, and finally the resolution. It is great to vaguely plot out these sections, so that you have a basic understanding of where the story is going. Of course the events can change, with fiction writing nothing is set in stone, but it definitely helps keep your thoughts on track, and progressively going towards your goal. Getting a little bit detailed can benefit you when you start the writing. A paragraph or two should suffice though.

Finally the last part is creating an outline. It significantly helps if before you go on to a full on book to try writing a few short stories to help get you familiar with the process, and to enhance your writing ability. You can start with the intro and then go into chapters if you want. They do not have to be ten paged chapters, but for a short story they can be about two to three paragraphs long and just bullet the important items you want within that section. You can go about doing this for the whole story, and voila! You have a very basic rough draft of what you want your story to look like. Now all that is left is putting words around it and details!

Since this process can vary from person to person, you may want to add your own personal flavor to it or perhaps you feel comfortable skipping a step, it is simply your choice. Do not forget though to use the resources that you have, such as a dictionary, and thesaurus. If these techniques are applied to the creation process, you will be well on your way to writing a mystery novel.

How To Come Up With a Good Story for Your Graphic Novel

A graphic novel is mink much like a paperback novel miss that it is told with pictures or graphics ( hand - stressed images ). The script of course is an integral part of the complete configuration, besides, you wouldn ' t master whatever is action on, on the pages, save feasibly for the racket scenes in some panels. All in all the core of your graphic novel should be the full plot and how you tell the story, the graphics are just a supplementary element that enhances the story. In reality they serve the bourn of literally visualizing the sense because there are times when words are not enough to describe someone or something.

Plot

With millions of stories that have been told over thousands of years in many different languages, it is almost a rare thing when someone is able to come up with something new. But you can still write a new story rich with surprises and twists as long as you do not compare your story with someone else ' s work. Originality is a critical aspect in creating a graphic novel. It may also be best not start your idea by thinking in what genre ' you will write it on, because it gets cramped up in your head thinking about a plot of action, adventure, thriller, horror, drama etc. Instead start your story by picturing the moments of it in your mind. You can think about a vampire story where it starts with a mysterious murder case, then insert a climax where hundreds of vampires chases the protagonist and ending it with a bang - a battle between the champion of the story and the evil villain vampire in a lopsided fight that favors the villain, until that one instant when the good guy exploits his vulnerability and wins the fight by virtue of pure chance. You can then put your story in the corresponding genre ' that it belongs.

Graphics

This part of your work will take a lot longer than creating the story and plot, especially if you ' re an inexperienced beginner in drawing. Basically what you would need to do is learn to draw, there are a lot of online course on this subject. You can also buy a tutorial book or CD ' s and learn to draw comic book characters and background in a matter of months. Learn some digital graphics tools like photoshop and corel draw because they can lighten up the load in completing your work at least 30 % faster, especially in coloring and clean up. As much as possible come up with original characters ( i. e. looks, costumes, clothing, hair and eye color, facial structure etc. ) and make your panels more dramatic to enhance the emotions of the readers with each scene.

Copyrights and ISBN codes

Getting a copyright and an ISBN ( international standard book number ) code shouldn ' t be so hard. You can just go file a request at the national library, pay the appropriate fees and drop 2 copies of your work for their archives. It will be just a matter of weeks before you get an official copy of your copyright papers; however, you can publish and sell your graphic novel immediately after filing for it.

History Of The Pretzel

Whereas with all foods, there is a history to be traced, a beginning and an evolution. So it is with the pretzel. Location did the pretzel originate and how has it changed?

History or tales of the pretzel state that because early because 610AD at a abbey finally in Southern France or Northern Italy, monks used scraps of almighty dollar and formed them into strips to epitomize a child ' s arms folded in prayer. The three empty holes represented the Christian Trinity. The monks offered the flushed, doughy bribe to children who had memorized their Bible verses and prayers. The monks called it a Pretiola, Latin for little reward. The tete-a-tete was subsequent adopted and well-timed by the Italians into the conversation Brachiola, which means little arms. A page from the prayer book of Catherine of Cleves depicts St. Bartholomew surrounded by pretzels, which were regard to bring good fortune, prosperity and spiritual wholeness to those who ate them.

The Pretiola journeyed beyond the French and Italian wine regions, hiked the Alps, wandered through Austria, and crossed into Germany, situation it became declared thanks to the Bretzel or Pretzel.

In medieval times merchants caravan to the Frankfurt Detached risked being robbed by bandits. In succession to guard the tradesmen, the towns ' people would ride out, welcome the vendors and overture them pewter pitchers of wine and loads of crisp boodle on their spears, called Geleit - pretzels.

The shape of the Pretzel worked its way into the culture not unique as a reward but as a symbol of good luck and prosperity. Street corner vendors began offering them as so. Before Easter chocolate there was the Easter pretzel. The pretzel was served with two hardboiled eggs and hidden around farms for children to find. Weddings in Europe for a time used the tradition of the bride and groom tugging at a pretzel like a wishbone, the larger piece assured the spouses fulfillment of their wishes.

German children had other connections to the pretzel, too. They tied pretzels on a string around their necks at the beginning of a new year for prosperity, health and good fortune.

Pretzels are shown in paintings with one of the more famous pictures called " The Fight Between Carnival and Lent " by Pieter Bruegel in 1559. The pretzels are shown in the lower right hand corner. A 17th century woodcut, copied from a cathedral in Bern, Switzerland, depicts the " marriage knot " as being a pretzel.

How is the pretzel good luck? Another story states that during the 1500 ' s, the city of Vienna was under siege by Ottoman Turks. Thwarted in their efforts to break through the city ' s walled fortifications, the Turks began tunneling below ground. Pretzel bakers, working through the night, heard the strange noises in the cellars, and notified the guard. The city was saved, and the grateful emperor awarded the pretzel bakers an honorary coat of arms!

European countries are not the only countries with pretzel stories. Within American, the pretzel was said to be discovered in the late seventeenth century when a baker ' s helper fell asleep tending pretzels baking in the hearth. When he awoke, the flames had died and he believed the pretzels hadn ' t cooked long enough and started the fire up again. When the Master Baker came in, he was furious that an entire batch of pretzels were not fit to eat. In the process of throwing them out, he tasted one and realized he was on to something big! Not only did he like the taste of these delicious crunchy morsels but realized due to the moisture being baked entirely out, that freshness was preserved and they would keep longer to sell.

Others say the immigrants brought the " bretzel " to the United States during the 1800 ' s. It had been Americanized and claimed to have even been on the Mayflower and traded with the early Native Americans, who loved them.

As far as commercializing the pretzel, history shows that in the town of Lititz in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, a man named Julius Sturgis began selling the pretzel. Pretzels later become industrialized, that is, made in mass, in 1935 when the Reading Pretzel Machinery Company first introduced the automatic pretzel twisting machine. Prior to that, most commercial pretzels were actually shaped by a cracker - cutting machine, then placed on baking pans and put into the baking ovens by hand. This innovation made pretzels available to people in all parts of the country, and helped the fledgling industry grow.

Today, annual pretzel sales top $180 million and are the second most popular snack, right behind potato chips and just in front of popcorn.

Pretzels today are made from many different grains. Toppings go beyond coarse salt, poppy or sesame seeds, and now boast such exotic coverings as cheese, chocolate and pizza flavorings. Although pretzel rods, ultra thin pretzels and pretzels chunks, clumps, sticks, rings and chips are also sold by such companies at Bachman, Snyder ' s and others, the original " pretiola " shaped snack still sells best.

Pretzels have also found their way into salads, hors - d ' ouvres and to accompany soups, dips and fruit.

The pretzel has survived many years of competition from other snack foods and has survived - so who is to say they don ' t represent good luck as this is quite the feat.

How A Sad Romantic Story Captures Peoples Heart

There are a lot of stories that circulates literary history but what actually gets into peoples humanity are fiction sad romantic story. For sure you have heard about stories station a insolvent tomboy became a princess all since of the reality that girl lone her glass shoe one night on the stairway of the apartment hard by dancing with the mogul at the sphere ball. This may sound a little sad at the start but the ending is always happy for its not for real and it doesnt happen in real life. The reason why most women are attached to sad ones is because its a reflection of what really happens in reality.

If you have noticed, a lot of sad love movies have started to arise in the recent years. There are things that you used not to expect to happen with how movie creators imagine their stories to appear like that are happening now. Lets face it, our imagination is that wide and deep to produce happenings in our thoughts that may or may not happen in reality. Say for example, love movies that are fictional where a princess turns into a frog and the frog used to be a prince. This could bring a sad thing to take place within the plot when it happens but if you do a reality check, no human has ever turned into a frog in the entire history. But still people stick to watch them and believe the lie. This is where the sad part is we get fooled into things that never take place in reality. But if you compare this with a sad love story like Korean made films that are all about dying because of Lukemia or because the partner died for some other reason; this is the type of story that people are now more attached to. It all falls to the idea that even if these viewers are not Korean or even if they dont have any type of sickness that is shown in the story, the fact that it does happen in reality makes it an interesting story for them to stick with.

A sad romantic story will always have a place in every viewers mind and heart even if it would make them feel bad or sad because watching sad love movies bring so much reality to expect into the one watching it.

How To Shrink Fibroids Naturally - Patricia ' s Story

Around 4 years ago, my very best and oldest schoolfriend Patricia and I began looking for information on how to shrink fibroids naturally. This was the bitter end of over a generation of man-sized to disclose what was utterly inexact with her. To tip you the background, my colleague had steadily started putting on weight on her stomach and had started to have very enormous periods. A unit of other symptoms had started to become apparent, akin thanks to urinary incontinence, breathlessness and anemia.

Looking back now, it truly does seem hilarious that canary didn ' t have an inkling over to what was fluffed but the frustrating person was that her doctor didn ' t either!

Woman visited her doctor for a medical which was related to her chore. When there, mademoiselle mention her symptoms and he tried her and uttered that wench was obese. Now whilst this was certainly true, he failed to realise that sis positively had mammoth fibroids growing in her uterus. This cloyed her fears moderately and sis embarked on a regime of regular exercise, tummy crunches and a calorie controlled cookery. A few months next, Patricia confided in me that she was really worried and thought that she might have cancer. Her abdomen had grown much larger and she felt generally unwell. Her monthly periods were so bad that she could barely leave the house.

To cut a long story short, a few weeks later we were in the office of a private gynecologist who, to Patricia ' s relief, diagnosed fibroids and told her that they were benign. However, what wasn ' t so good was that she recommended a hysterectomy and set a date for the operation. At this point, Patricia was afraid as she hated the thought of an operation and when the doctor explained the potential short term and long term risks, she asked if there were any alternatives and if she could be taught how to shrink fibroids naturally. The doctor, although very nice, was non - commital and said vaguely that changing her diet could help but that her fibroids were so large that a hysterectomy was really the best option.

We did what many do and researched how to shrink fibroids naturally on the internet. There was lots of different pieces of advice and most revolved around changing your diet and doing more exercise. She took the decision to postpone the hysterectomy for 6 months to give herself chance to shrink her fibroids naturally but decided that her symptoms were so bad that she would have to go through with the operation if necessary.

What frightened her most was the prospect of losing what she perceived to be her femininity. She had the feeling that without a uterus, this somehow made her less of a woman. In addition, she was also afraid that she would go into an early menopause and at 34, this was the last thing she needed. Another real consideration was the fact that she wasn ' t sure whether or not she had completed her family and in the back of her mind was the thought that another little one might come along at some time. The hysterectomy would obviously out an end to that thought!

So, to learn how to shrink fibroids naturally, Patricia decided to use a system. Although there was lots of advice on the internet, putting the pieces together proved difficult and she was afraid that she would miss out on some vital aspect.

The plan she used incorporated the following protocols to shrink fibroids naturally: -

* The management of estrogen

* Dietary changes

* Liver detoxification

* Embracing an exercise plan

* Incorporating relaxation techniques

* Taking dietary supplements

* Alternative therapies

I guess you ' d probably like to hear me say that within weeks, Patricia ' s fibroids were gone. This wasn ' t the case unfortunately. What did happen though was that within a couple of weeks, her abdomen felt less " tight " and her next period was noticeable lighter. However, she found the protocols quite difficult to adhere to and had a few " false starts " but did manage to get back on track eventually. After 6 months, she visited her gynecologist for a repeat scan and was amazed to find that some of her smaller fibroids had gone and that the largest one had shrunk from the size of a " small melon " to the size of an apple.

She says now that what made the difference was having someone to talk to through the process. The system she used which taught her how to shrink fibroids naturally offered one to one email support and she admits that she nearly burnt her computer out emailing on a daily basis! She would ask all manner of questions, especially about her diet and there were one or two of the recommended supplements which she couldn ' t get hold of so she emailed to ask about alternatives, and these were duly recommended.

A year on and although not completely gone, Patricia ' s fibroids were small enough not to cause any symptoms and as she doesn ' t want the fibroids to return, she still follows many of the recommendations within the plan she used as she feels that her fibroids were linked to high estrogen levels caused partly by bodyweight and partly by diet ( although this cannot be accurately determined ).

How To Submit A Short Story For Publication

So you ' ve written a story, rewritten it, prone it to some close friends and family to scrutinize, revised it, obsessed over it, lost sleep, thrown it out, started over, and done the complete process a second time with something supplementary.

Now you want to submit your story for publication.

First things first. This is an article on how to submit a SHORT story. If you are looking for advice on how and locale to submit your novel, look elsewhere. This procedure does striving for novellas - - if the outlets you are submitting to will gate them - - but my general concluding on the matter is that the longer a story is, the souped up it has to be to get published. So until you ' ve proven you ' re a competent writer, I ' d stick with short stories.

Again note that this is an article on submitting your story to MAGAZINES who will Wages you for your drudge. There are prohibitively of for nothing literary magazines attached to college campuses and community centers and whatnot out there if you want to look. I ' m not all that interested in those, so I won ' t talk about them here.

The first step is finding outlets that will read your story. A great resource for this is Duotrope. com. Duotrope lists just about every periodical that accepts submissions from the general public grouped by genre and includes details about accepted lengths, wait times for responses, pay rates, etc. You might already know of a few places, but I doubt you know them all. Duotrope knows them all.

The next step is making sure your story is formatted correctly. Most submission pages will tell you to conform to the Shunn Manuscript Format. You can find details about it in any number of places. Just Google it. It ' s pretty simple: double space, monospace font, page numbers in the upper right, etc.

You also should make sure you have the right file format. Most submissions are done online, so it ' s important that you submit you story as the right type of file. DOC and RTF are usually the only two accepted formats, so all you Office 2007 and later users need to make sure you are saving as the legacy format and not sending DOCX files. Chances are the publisher will be able to open it, but following basic directions is a way to ingratiate yourself to a publisher ( and every tiny bit of this helps ).

The final step is writing a cover letter to go along with your story. These should be brief. My standard cover letter is two sentences:

" Please accept [story name here], a short story approximately [word count here] words in length, for consideration for publication at [magazine name here]. I am an unpublished writer, and I would greatly appreciate any feedback should my story not meet your standards. "

If you have been previously published, then you would mention that and include a list of publications. Sometimes a magazine will ask you to include a brief summary of your story. Whatever they ask for, make sure you include it. The better you follow the rules, the better the chance the editor or whoever reads your story will be in a good mood when they get to your submission.

The real final step, after you do the above three and send you story in, is sitting around and waiting for an answer. Don ' t stop writing other stuff or put your life on hold or hold your breath. Look on Duotrope at the acceptance rates for most magazines. They ' re usually around 0. 25 %. That means 1 in every 400 stories is accepted.

Now, I suppose you can figure that a good number of those are complete hacks who send in absolute garbage. If you believe you don ' t fall into that category AND you figure that group makes up a full 50 % of submissions, your chances have only increased to 1 in 200 or 0. 5 %.

Bottom line: unless you are really, really, really, out of this world good, you aren ' t going to get accepted your first time out. I ' ve been on absolutely everything in the year or so that I ' ve been submitting stories, and I don ' t expect to get anything different anytime soon. The important part is to keep trying. If you stop sending in stories, you ' ll stop getting rejected. It might save you some heartache, but you ' ll also never get published.

How To Use A Story To Engage Your Audience

Preparing your speech and writing convenient stories can be a interrogation at the best of times, but the real threat is in using and writing those stories in selfsame a way that they quite engage your audience.

First, conceive about how other speakers and presenters counsel to grab your attention. Sure, their stories about themselves may be amusing but because with anybody who is all about " me me me ", you can find your concentration drifting. What considerably grabs your attention, and keeps it, is when the presenter talks about things that relate to you so it ' s more " you you you " than " me me me ".

A successful relater engages their audience by telling stories that evoke responses like, " Wow, that ' s happened to me, unduly! ", and " Yeah, I ' ve heuristic that happen! ", and emotions of sympathy and sympathy owing to for whatever reason, they can distinguish with your story. You may be telling a story about yourself, but in their minds it is about them and everyone is enticed in themselves, true?

The secret to connecting with your audience is by bonding with them on an upright plain. Honesty can be knee-slapper or it can be sad, but everyone can relate to the human element. At some stage of our lives we have all experienced something corresponding that made us laugh or cry or just want to go stash below a rock. So don ' t just talk at your audience talk to them in an authentic way.

When you are preparing a story, relate it to your intended audience. A popular presentation these days, thanks to in most economies, is addressing small business owners who are struggling to extent success. So think back to a time when you were struggling, but through sheer determination and perseverance you managed to hang in there and come through relatively unscathed. So what was it you did, exactly, that helped you through your trying times? It ' s one thing to say to your audience, " think positively " but put yourself in their shoes, listening to this advice. These are empty words unless you can demonstrate their effectiveness. Just HOW does one think positively and use that advice day to day? How did you do it? Did you catch yourself with each negative thought and say " cancel, cancel " and replace it with a positive one? If you became too downhearted, did you take yourself off to the gym to sweat it out? Did you watch a funny movie to lighten your mood? Did you visit a homeless shelter and volunteer? What was it you did?

Think about all the emotions and experiences you had that your audience has likewise experienced and spin the story to relate to them. You ' ll want to explain your own feelings during your own time of difficulty so they can identify with them, and once you have them on side, then you teach them how to keep going when the going is tough, because then they will know you have been in their shoes and if you succeeded, maybe they can too if they listen to you.

Don ' t turn your talk into a glorified lecture, preaching to the audience about how clever you are. There are a lot of ' guru ' s out there who like to tell their audience how successful and wealthy they are and became that way despite difficult economies, near bankruptcies, etc. and this information is not only taken with a pinch of salt by some, but is totally unhelpful to them. How does knowing that you are so filthy rich and successful that they should be grateful you spared the time to come talk to them help them? They didn ' t come to hear how clever you think you are or how rich and successful you are now. They came to hear you talk about your similar problems and learn new ways of managing their own challenges. Of course, at some stage you will want to tell them that you came through struggles and became successful, but talk about it in a way that is tasteful don ' t brag show your humility. You are offering them hope, not a look into the life of Mr or Mrs Clever Pants and if they buy X or do X or hire you, they will be as clever. Audiences are becoming savvier. Maybe they really will be doing themselves a favor if they buy X or hire you, but the secret is to let them come to this realization and make it easy for them to find your products or reach you.

You are talking about grave matters that weigh people down they were already weighed down when they signed up for your talk are you going to send them home as heavy as when they arrived? Will that make you a memorable speaker? The trick is to share your wisdom but in an entertaining manner. If you entertain your audience, you will have their undivided attention. I ' m not suggesting you turn all your speeches into comedy routines because that has its time and place, but what I am suggesting is you mingle your sad stories with some humorous stories. Get your audience to laugh share an embarrassing moment people love to laugh at others! Some of the best laughs have come from stories where pain was mingled with humor. An oft used example of this is when talking about a much loved deceased friend or family member one minute you ' ll be teary eyed and the next laughing your head off. Life is like that. It is okay to find humor in grave situations, provided it doesn ' t hurt or insult your audience. It must be tasteful.

Don ' t just throw your stories into the speech willy - nilly. A great talk is like a book it has a beginning, a middle and an ending. You must start by grabbing their attention right from the start, getting them to identify with you and wanting to hear more. This is where great stories come into play. Regardless of how much more successful and rich you may be than your audience, you want them thinking that you are one of them, not some smarty pants come to preach at them. Here is where you need to establish rapport with your audience.

How do you want your audience to react by the end of your talk? Crying? Laughing? Deep in thought? Primed for action and raring to go? The end of your talk must make a powerful impact on them. You don ' t want to look like you are deliberately trying to get a laugh or tears out of them it should come naturally. This is where you save your best story for last the most powerful story the one that will elicit the required response. This is where you must allow yourself to be vulnerable, to remind them you are one of them and to enable them to feel a rapport with you and your message. Your final story may be the one they most remember, so make it count. If you are hoping for donations, appeal to their better natures; if you want support for a special cause, pull at their heartstrings; if you want them to lighten up and think positively, leave them laughing and feeling good about themselves and hopeful for the future

Make sure you rehearse tape yourself or video yourself to ensure you are achieving your speaking goal. Is your humorous anecdote as funny when you say it as it looks on paper? How best to deliver it then? How are your facial expressions and mannerisms? Do your words say one thing but your face says another? Look for areas of improvement and practice because practice makes perfect.
